New tool simplifies inputting windows in PHPP
A new tool which simplifies the process of inputting window information into the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP) has been developed by Tim Martel at Optimal Retrofit. Tim is a Chartered Architectural Technologist who is the Passivhaus Designer for two projects at the moment, a village hall and a large new detached house.
The tool is a separate spreadsheet with software that greatly simplifies entering windows in your PHPP and can save time working out dreveal and other info in the Window tab of PHPP. It's suitable for PC only using PHPP 2007, 8.5, 9.6 and other versions on request. It doesn't modify the PHPP at all other than fill in window details including: the sub pane dimensions, 1's and 0's, dreveal and pane id.
Walkthrough video of Window Tool
In the video above, a blank row between windows has been added to show it can be done, but it is not a necessary step. The window tool also adds a number or letter to the end of the name for each pane. For example, the name of the window entered was W1, W2 etc, the software added the ‘a’ and ‘b’ for each pane.
